Kite Flying in Afghanistan

I learned that in Afghan culture kids fly kites and compete with other neighborhood children to win respect from kite fliers and others in the town. The game consists of many players and, one by one each kite is demolished by the owner of the kite. Furthermore, the string that is attached to the kite is coated with powdered glass. Players try to cut the string of the other by the pull or release method. When there are only two players left the one who crushes their opponent wins , so then the winner lets go of their kite and runs after it, brings it back in their hands, and wins the fight, gains respect, and the glory. Although, it is fun it is also dangerous, the child is so intrigued in capturing the kite they grow unaware of their surrounding like traffic, roads, trains. Therefore, most children end up hurt because of the chase for the kite.
